I Took the LSAT with Zero Preparation

The law school admissions test, the named test you take in order to be getting into a law school is a 3 and half hour examination in which the time is divided evenly between the five multiple choice sections which cover critical reasoning, logic, reading comprehension, 1 writing sample. each MCQ section 25 questions and each and every question has 5 possible answers.

This is graded on a curve and a perfect score in this exam is 180 and the lowest is 120. The writing sample is not graded and this was the information I did not know before I sat down in order to take the exam one Saturday morning in September because I decided I wanted to take it without studying or researching the test at all.

Like most of the people, I always thought that there might be an activity in which I could be a genius. I have spectated enough biopics in order to try something incredible because I feel like I possess some eccentricities. I started searching for my special talent when I was at a dinner party and, I found out that one of the people I knew who was one of the smartest and newly unemployed wanted to spend 4 months in order to prepare for this exam.

I had a doubt whether you have to memorize the constitution or something and when I asked him he told me that no that was not her requirement. The requirements for this exam is logic and reasoning skills and not factual knowledge at all. I always thought that I was a pretty reasonable guy so so I wanted to try and take a test instead of wasting my life studying. He told me that I will do terribly if I try and give the test without preparation and he told me that the test will cost 180 dollars so it will be a waste of money as my best LSAT prep books I’ve bought from Amazon.

Even when he told me that, I thought why not try it and whatever I am a genius. For a certain time, law as one of the ever-present backup careers for a less exciting but more stable future. I did not want a particular law life but what if I would be able to clear that exam easily. After thinking critically about the situation, I signed up for the exam at Brooklyn’s Medgar evers college.

After you register, it will become clear that everything about this exam provokes bureaucratic dread. This makes sense. Space is limited, therefore there are no sign-ups months ahead of the actual test date. Once you upload a clear picture of yourself, with a different one than the one which you use on your form of ID, they will match how you look on the day of the test and you will be given entry. You will be able to bring a zip lock bag which is 1 gallon and sealed, to the test only consisting of a valid ID, wallet, keys, hygiene products.

You will also be able to carry wooden pencils, highlighter, eraser, sharpeners, tissues, beverages in a plastic container or juice box. I thought that I will not be able to opt for the exam because of an improperly filled out form and I was less nervous and I was also not sure how to prepare myself for the test before a night. So I started talking to my business as usual and my friend told me that you are probably the only one taking the exam tomorrow while drinking juice on a stoop right now.

I had the test at 8:30 a.m. in the morning and I decided to give myself a chance and had early to bed. This was the first test I had taken after a decade since college so I was a little nervous.

The part one was easy where I had to read the comprehension and answer some sample questions, part II was bad because the logic games section was a new thing for me, I thought that I will not pass the test but after a while I started thinking that maybe I will be able to score some points and get into a decent college. The third section was similar to the first, fortunately. IV and V sections were also ok.

This leads me to a score of 158 which is surely respectable but does not make me a prodigy.
