Spending A Lot Of Time On Social Networks Hurts Decision-making: Study Reveals

“Spending a lot of time on social networks would hurt decision-making” This is the conclusion of a new US study conducted by researchers from the University of Michigan in the United States. They recruited 71 volunteers who were tested by Iowa Gambling, commonly used by psychologists to assess the ability to make a decision.

The results clearly show a link between the ability to make decisions and the practice of social networks. The most undecided were thus the biggest users of Facebook. Professor Dar Meshi, lead author of the study, goes even further by drawing a parallel with patients who consume opioids, cocaine and amphetamines that would achieve results similar to the test.

Considering the situation and its complexities, may tech experts recommend parents to take a toll on their kids’ use of social network apps. Spending a lot of time on these sites not only disturbs their social circle, but their personal life too. As part of their recommendations, they suggest parents to make use of advanced monitoring tool such as FamilyTime –parental control app that helps parents limit screen time of their kids and save them from all the problems.

With this app, parents can see what social networking sites their kids use, how long they use those sites, what apps are installed on their devices, who do they connect with, what do they communicate and more. In addition to that, parents can also determine the duration for and device usage. For this, FamilyTime app offers a range of features including the app blocker, auto screen lock, and remote lock, etc. There are many other valuable features of FamilyTime that you can explore by giving this app a free try. The trial version can be installed from the app store on your phone.

Along with that please take a note that most people turn to social networking sites to fill their boredom and in the end become addicted to these platforms. In this scenario, do not make the mistake of calming the strong reactions and tantrums of your children using the social networking sites. Although these can reassure and distract them, they should be considered as one of the last options, since it is appropriate to teach them how to control themselves, to create different activities to control boredom, to resolve conflicts through dialogue and to find other strategies to channel the emotions.
