Trouble Shooting: LED Strip Lights

These lights are usually the go-to lights to add a bit of pizazz to your corners and angled architecture. They come in easy, DIY installation kits. But still, they have their issues when most of you try to install them yourselves. Below is a troubleshooting list that may solve your queries linked to LED Strip lights:

The light turns on and off

When this happens, it may be because of a loose dimmer connection or you may have used the wrong dimmer. Solution: check the connection and dimmer spec’s sheet for compatibility.

LED Strip light just won’s light up

This may be simply because your strip light is not plugged into the wall or simply not turned on, or maybe the battery is dying or the connection is loose. Solution: replace the old battery with new ones and check if the connection is tight and not loose.

Hardwire does not light up

This is possible because of loose wiring or too much insulation. Solution: check insulation and make sure it is stripped about half an inch on either end and ensure a tight connection.

LED flickers

This may occur when the voltage is low from the power supply or if your batteries are dying. Solution: replace batteries (obviously) and make sure that the voltage of lights and drivers are the same and compatible.

Won’t flash

This occurs when lights are connected to dimmers (a dimmer does not allow lights to flash). Solution: disconnect the dimmer.

Light intensity is different on both ends

When the light intensity is low at the end of the strip, it means that there is a voltage drop. Solution: do not run a single strip on a single LED driver. Incorporate more than one driver on several strips of light.

Light is a different shade at the end

This is a hardware problem and arises when the wires cross one another. Solution: split your lights and run on several drivers. Ensure no more than 16 feet per driver is installed.

The Strip RBG light stays one color

This is a simple problem that arises because of human error. Yes, human error! This occurs if you have connected wires backward (reversed polarity). Solution: just flip the light and reconnect it.

Too hot to hold

This occurs when the voltage is high. Solution: Ensure that the voltage of lights and drivers are same and compatible.
