Five Places to Work Instead of Your Home Office

If you are part of the growing trend of people who work from anywhere, but mostly find yourself working from your home office, it’s time to break away and do more with your day. While it seems like a luxury to get to work from home, it can be very distressing and lonely. A lot of people who work from home have a great deal of fomo (fear of missing out) and they start to feel disconnected from the communities they serve. To help you get back in the game and to stop feeling like you are all alone in the world, we’ve put together a list of five places you could work instead of your home office. Take your show on the road and get more out of your business than you ever imagined.

Coworking Spaces

Coworking spaces are the obvious place to start when you first start working outside of your home because they are in every major city and are easily accessible. What’s more, they are usually free and easy to get to. Plus, they usually come with coffee and snacks in some cases. You can’t go wrong. Whether you are looking for coworking spaces in New York City or you are looking for a pad in Australia, you can find a place with like-minded people who share your enthusiasm for getting out of the basement or away from the kitchen table.

Local Library

The local library is a highly undervalued resource in any community. If you are looking for a quiet place, you won’t find one much quieter than the local library. There are often many events going on at libraries that you can get involved with and of course, you can take breaks from your work and read a magazine, pick up a good book, or even watch a movie. Coffee shops are usually not far away from libraries and you can come and go as you please. They have free wi-fi and comfortable chairs. What more could you ask for?

University Cafeteria

While you won’t find many clients at a local university cafeteria, you can people watch and find a comfortable place to sip overpriced coffee and get your work done in peace. Who says you aren’t a student there? It’s free, public transit runs by every university on the regular, and you can set up shop for hours on end without anyone bothering you. Plus, there’s food. It’s all about the food when you are in the middle of a working marathon.

Coffee Shop

Coffee shops are also obvious places to take your work for the day. If you love coffee, this won’t be a problem, but if you aren’t a fan of coffee, you might rethink this one as it’s difficult to hang out without actually buying something to justify why you are there in the first place. Get a friend to meet you and you can take turns buying the coffee.

Park

If you are looking to get out and enjoy nature but don’t want to deal with the sand in your laptop at the beach, check out a public park and use the data hotspot on your mobile phone to get the internet if you need it. Find yourself a quiet corner of the park and set up a blanket and enjoy. You can always work offline and then upload what you need when you are back in the range of wi-fi. It’s easy to do, less messy than the beach, and you’ll enjoy the sites and sounds of being out in the world without the stress of deadlines and hard walls.
